The world of Disney Lorcana continues to grow, and this September it welcomes its ninth set: Fabled. Packed with beloved characters, new mechanics and nostalgic music, this release is full of energy and creativity. With only thirty-three new cards and a mix of returning favourites, Fabled delivers quality over quantity, and its highlights are already turning heads.
Whether you are a competitive player, a collector or someone discovering Lorcana for the first time, this set offers something fresh and fun. Let us take a closer look at the most exciting reveals.
Powerline Headlines the Set
The star of Fabled is none other than Powerline, the legendary singer from A Goofy Movie. Fans have been hoping to see him, and he has finally arrived in Lorcana with style.
Powerline is a six-cost Floodborn glimmer with Shift four, Singer nine and two lore. His ability, Mashup, allows you to look at the top four cards of your deck whenever he sings a song. You may then play a song with cost nine or less for free, putting the remaining cards at the bottom of your deck.
This ability creates exciting tempo plays and reflects the concert energy that Powerline brings to the screen. It also opens up brand new combinations for song-based decks. To add to the excitement, Powerline is available in a dazzling Enchanted version, illustrated by Max Olchenny, featuring an updated foiling and security design.
Two Iconic Songs from A Goofy Movie
Fabled also introduces two memorable songs from A Goofy Movie, both of which pair beautifully with Powerline’s ability.
Eye to Eye
This is a Sing Together nine card, where each player draws two cards and gains two lore. If two or more characters sing it, they ready but cannot quest during that turn. The card offers strong card draw and lore gain, while the readying mechanic opens up opportunities for clever timing and combos.
Eye to Eye also comes in an Enchanted treatment, illustrated by Jokum Van Gool, making it a standout card for both competitive and collector-focused players.
Stand Out
This second song grants a chosen character plus three strength and Evasive until the start of your next turn. The artwork shows Max surfing over a crowd, reflecting the scene from the film. While it is not Enchanted, this version is marked as Epic, a newer rarity tier, and looks fantastic in foil.
Together, these two songs add charm, flavour and strategy to any deck that leans into singing or Evasive synergy.
Dumbo and Timothy Take Flight
Fabled brings in more characters from Disney classics, including a delightful pairing from Dumbo.
Dumbo, Flying Elephant is a three-cost glimmer with Evasive. When he enters play, he gives Evasive to another character until your next turn. This is a simple but powerful support tool, especially in tempo-based decks that rely on protected quests.
Timothy Q. Mouse, Flight Instructor is a one-cost support character with a stat line of one strength and four willpower. While you control a character with Evasive, Timothy gains one lore. The synergy between these two characters reflects their relationship in the film and provides a strong early-game pairing for Evasive decks.
Mickey and Minnie Return as Royal Powerhouses
Two of Lorcana’s most recognisable characters return with exciting new forms in Fabled.
Minnie Mouse, Sweetheart Princess
This four-cost glimmer has two lore and two notable abilities. The first, Royal Favour, gives all Mickey Mouse characters Support, allowing them to boost their allies when they quest. The second, Bye Bye Now, lets you banish an exerted enemy character with five strength or more whenever Minnie quests. This makes her a useful tool for dealing with large threats while also enhancing your board.
Mickey Mouse, Brave Little Prince
Inspired by the Brave Little Tailor, this version of Mickey is a three-cost glimmer with Evasive and Shift five. Once shifted onto another Mickey, he gains three strength, three willpower and three lore. This transformation gives him a massive presence on the board and ties in neatly with the set’s theme of growth and transformation.
These versions of Mickey and Minnie also appear as Super Chase cards, which are extremely rare and visually striking. Their full abilities have now been revealed, and they are likely to become collector favourites.
What Comes Next?
Even with the excitement of Fabled, there is more to come. Ravensburger has already given us a first look at the next two sets in development.
Whispers in the Well
This tenth set introduces a detective theme and explores the mystery of new types of glimmers appearing in the realm. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde lead the charge, with abilities focused on investigation and synergy with other detectives.
The packaging art hints at the arrival of characters from Gargoyles, with Demona making her first appearance. Starter decks feature unique pairings like Simba and Megara, and Robin Hood with Judy Hopps, bringing a sense of adventure and mystery to the game.
Winter Spell
Following Whispers in the Well is Winter Spell, which brings snow, fun and a touch of mischief. The key art shows Stitch snowboarding, Angel throwing snowballs, and a whimsical mix of palm trees and pine forests.
This is Angel’s first time in Lorcana, and fans of Lilo and Stitch will be eager to include her in their decks. The snow-covered setting hints at unexpected events, and the combination of warmth and cold gives this set a unique feel.
Final Thoughts
Fabled may have a smaller number of new cards, but its impact will be anything but small. With musical synergy, clever mechanics and nostalgic charm, this set captures the heart of what makes Disney Lorcana special. From Powerline’s high-energy combos to Dumbo’s soaring support and the royal might of Mickey and Minnie, Fabled offers cards that are fun to play and exciting to collect. As we look forward to Whispers in the Well and Winter Spell, the world of Lorcana continues to grow in exciting and surprising ways.
